Print in Black and White

Named shapes, printed labels and written rules carry the clues. Ordinary monochrome printing is enough.

Check a sample before the full run

Select A4 or Letter to match your printer, and open one player page first. Check the labels and smaller details the puzzle actually uses. A pale line can be easy to miss in a route or a signal diagram.

  • Use actual size or 100% when possible
  • Check table row and column names
  • Check letters, digits and repeated symbols
  • Check line intersections and route directions
  • Print one sample before every team’s set

Keep the answers with the host

The separate player PDF contains the clue pages. Host answers and hints have their own files. The combined prepared PDF includes those adult sections, so use its page plan to sort the sheets before handing them out. A ZIP gives you separate files for easier sorting.

Recover from a faint page

Print that section again with a darker setting. Compare it with the actual preview: every necessary word, symbol and line should be visible. If a child cannot distinguish a detail, read its printed label aloud without supplying the solution. Download the player PDF rather than printing browser navigation.
