Set Up in One Room
Turn one table into a complete mystery. Every clue stays within reach, and each team has a clear place for its working.
Use three paper stations
Place the opening and current clue on the left, the record and pencils in the middle, and the remaining sheets on the right. Keep the final sheet face down until its prerequisite results are ready. All clues stay at the table.
- LEFT: the current player clue
- MIDDLE: labelled results and working
- RIGHT: remaining sheets in order
- HOST: answers and hint cards facing the adult
Check the set before the group arrives
Use the game’s print plan to count player pages and record sheets for each team. Check that the final page is present, diagrams are complete, and table labels can be read. Keep one content version throughout the set.
- All clue pages for each team
- A blank record set for each team
- One pencil per child
- A separate host answer and hint set
- A place to put completed clues without losing the evidence
Explain how results will be used
Read the story opening. Each clue produces a labelled result; the final sheet explains how those results support the mission. It might ask for a location, journey, schedule, panel or habitat. A physical lock, prize or phone is optional. Read the final instructions instead of assuming the results are joined in clue order.
